Bookie's Belly Fund

The bad lucky fairy has struck again.

Bookie is a little Miniature Pinscher who was just surrendered to Hopeful Hearts on Friday. Unbeknownst to us, Bookie swallowed some foreign objects prior to being surrendered and had to be rushed to the vet on Friday afternoon. He is currently at the Ottawa Vet Hospital with an obstruction and surgery is imminent.

Bookie needs us, and we would appreciate any help you can give him AND Hopeful Hearts. We don't have an estimate yet for his surgery, but suffice it to say, it will be costly.

To help Bookie, you can donate via Canada Helps or PayPal by clicking here:

http://www.hopefulhearts.ca/donations.htm

If you donate through Canada Helps, you will receive a tax receipt for any amount over $20.00 because we are a registered charity. Please select "Bookie's Belly Fund".

If you choose to donate through PayPal, please include a note to let us know that your donation is for Bookie! (see photo below)

Please keep Bookie in your thoughts and we will continue to update you on his progress. For the most up to date information, please follow us on our Facebook page.

As always, thank you for your continued support. We could not do any of this without you.

UPDATES
February 19th:  After 3 long hours they have now finished Bookie's surgery but the next 24-48 hours are critical. When the vet was operating they found objects wrapped around Bookie's intestines. The intestines were infected and unfortunately some of it had to be cut out and pieced back together. It's very guarded right now and Bookie may not make it, so please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. The vet was amazed at Bookie's spirit though and said he is a an incredible dog, a real fighter.

This surgery is going to cost thousands and thousands of dollars, so any amount you can donate will help in ways you can't imagine. We will be making arrangements for a Bookie fundraiser so stay tuned for details in the coming days.

February 20th: We received a call from OVH this morning and they let us know that Bookie is up, went pee, had something to eat and has KEPT IT DOWN!!! This is good news!! He's not out of the woods by any means but these are positive signs. :))

So far we have raised $1146.25 for Bookie's surgery!!!! Thank you to everyone who has donated & shared his story so far! Your support is very much appreciated. We're in the process of setting up a raffle for Bookie, so if you have any new items or services you are able to donate, please email donating@hopefulhearts.ca with "Bookie" in the subject line! xoxo THANK YOU!

February 21st:  Bookie is doing well and it sounds like he might get to go home in the next couple of days. Thank you for your well wishes and donations -- it means so much to us that you all care so much for this little guy. Thanks to you Bookie has an amazing future ahead of him!!

His vet bill will be approximately $5000.00 (depending on when he is released) and so far we have raised $1494.10, so THANK YOU!

The Bookie raffle is almost done and we will have something up shortly. In the meantime, if you have a product or service you would like to donate to the raffle, please email donating@hopefulhearts.ca

Again, THANK YOU EVERYONE for everything you have done to help us save Bookie. xoxo

February 24th: Bookie is free! He was released from OVH on Friday afternoon and is now with his loving foster family. We cannot thank Ottawa Veterinary Hospital enough for their amazing care -- they were lifesavers.

Stay tuned on Monday February 27th for the Bookie raffle to begin!
