Surrey

On Monday March 26th Hopeful Hearts received an email regarding a 13 week old Dutch Decoy Spaniel puppy who needed surgery. This little pup had been stepped on by a neighbour's dog, breaking his hind leg, and unfortunately his owner's were unable to afford to have the surgery done. While the pup was happy and able to move in a splint, his leg was not healing properly. On Friday, after his owner's made the difficult decision to surrender him to Hopeful Hearts, the pup now named Surrey was whisked off to surgery.

Thanks to the always wonderful and caring folks at Bells Corners Animal Hospital, the surgery went amazingly well and Surrey will suffer no further disability in the future as a result of this break.  In 4-6 weeks the pin will need to come out, but until then Surrey will get the rest he needs (in addition to some lovin' and spoilin') in his foster home.

Hopeful Hearts routinely takes in senior and special needs dogs, and unfortunately this comes at a price. If you'd like to help us help them we would be most appreciative. Donations can be made via Canada Helps or PayPal by clicking this link. Every single penny goes to helping dogs in our care, and tax receipts are issued for any amount over $20.00 that you donate through Canada Helps.
